Choosing music for your wedding can be an overwhelming process. This page offers some suggestions for music selection for your wedding ceremony. Many of the pieces are appropriate for other parts of the ceremony than where they are listed.

PRELUDE

This is the music played as guests are arriving. Generally, I play a mixture of instrumental and light classical music to set a gentle, more formal tone. You are welcome to pick selections for this part, but it is not necessary.

ENTRANCES

Some ceremonies begin with a special seating of the mothers, grandparents and so forth. Usually the minister, groom and groomsmen enter, followed by the bridesmaids and any flower girls and ring bearers. Depending on the length of the walkway and the number of people involved, two or even three pieces may be appropriate here.

BRIDAL ENTRANCE

Many brides choose the traditional Bridal March, but there are some lovely alternatives. Any of the above pieces are perfectly appropriate. Some are upbeat while others are more gentle and flowing. I say pick something that you like!

MEDITIATION

Many ceremonies have places that are appropriate for music. A candlelighting or rose-giving ritual can be enhanced with some quiet music. It can be very calming to take a minute or two for reflection at some point during the ceremony. Many of the PRELUDE pieces work well here.
